Al Mouj Muscat Marathon 2024 Celebrates Athletic Achievements
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Al Mouj Muscat Marathon 2024, a grand sporting spectacle, concluded on Saturday, January 27, bringing together a diverse and enthusiastic group of Omani and foreign athletes residing in the Sultanate of Oman. The event showcased outstanding athleticism and community engagement across various categories.
In the fiercely contested 5 km marathon competition, Abdullah Al Quraini clinched the top spot, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination. Salem Al Rashidi secured the second position, closely followed by Nasr Al Naabi, who claimed the third spot.
The 3 km competition witnessed spirited competition, with Wissam Al Mahrami emerging victorious, securing the first-place position. Shaheen Ghouri exhibited remarkable prowess to secure the second position, while Zaid Al Dhamri secured third place.
In the 2-kilometre competition, Turki Al-Sudairi showcased speed and endurance to claim the first-place position. Aws Al Fahdi demonstrated impressive athleticism, securing the second spot, while Malik Ahmed displayed exceptional performance to secure third place.
The 1-kilometre competition for children witnessed remarkable talent, with Tariq Birakader earning the first-place position. Mishari Al Balushi showcased commendable skill to secure the second position, and Osama Al Bahri exhibited promising athleticism, securing the third position.
Khalid bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SABCO Sports Company, the organizing entity for the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon, expressed pride in the event’s success. He highlighted the marathon’s significance as a premier sporting phenomenon for community participation in the Sultanate of Oman.
Al Busaidi remarked, “We are proud as an organizing company for this marathon in cooperation with the relevant parties represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the Omani Athletics Federation, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Oman Sail, Al Mouj Muscat, and commercial sponsors.”
Accredited as one of the region’s most prominent sporting events by the Association of International Marathon and Distance Races in 2018, the Al Mouj Muscat Marathon continues to receive acclaim, further solidifying its status as a celebrated athletic event. Additionally, the event holds accreditation from the World Athletics Federations, showcasing its international recognition and appeal.
