OETC Celebrates Landmark Projects Worth OMR322 Million
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) marked a significant milestone on Sunday with the ceremonial signing of agreements for the strategic project ‘Rabt, Phase 2’, alongside the expansion of electricity transmission projects in Dhofar Governorate. The combined projects, valued at OMR322 million, signify a pivotal advancement in Oman’s energy infrastructure.
The celebratory event, held at the esteemed Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC), was graced by the patronage of Dr. Mansour bin Talib Al Hinai, Chairman of the Authority for Public Services Regulation. Amidst an atmosphere of optimism and anticipation, agreements were formalized with esteemed partners including Larsen and Toubro, Oman National Engineering and Investment Company (ONEIC), Zawawi Powertech Engineering, and Bahwan Engineering.
At the heart of the initiatives is the OMR257 million Rabt, Phase 2 project, designed to fortify Oman’s transmission network. This ambitious endeavor encompasses the establishment of three power stations boasting a capacity of 400 kilovolts, alongside overhead power lines spanning over 590 kilometers. Notably, the project aims to seamlessly integrate the main transmission network with the Dhofar electricity network, facilitating connectivity between the Duqm industrial station and the Dhofar power station in the Wilayat of Salalah. Additionally, the project entails the establishment of the Shaleem Electricity Transmission Station and the extension of electricity transmission lines to two wind power stations at Ras Madraka and Harweel, with a combined capacity of 500 megawatts. Scheduled for completion by 2027, Rabt, Phase 2 represents a cornerstone in Oman’s quest for sustainable energy development.
Complementing this endeavor is the OMR65 million investment in electricity transmission network projects within Dhofar Governorate. This initiative involves the installation of electricity transmission lines spanning 269 kilometers, connecting the Wilayat of Al Mazyoona with the Niyabat of Shahb Asaib, along with the construction of three electricity transmission stations. Scheduled for completion by 2025, this venture underscores Oman’s commitment to enhancing energy accessibility and reliability across the region.
