Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan recently welcomed Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, emphasizing the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation as a vital tool for fostering constructive dialogue and mutual understanding between nations. The meeting, reported by TDH, highlighted the significance of closer bilateral interaction and the exchange of legislative experiences.

President Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed greetings from Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kokhabidze. He noted the progressive nature of the Turkmen-Georgian partnership, with leaders from both countries shaping its dynamics, including in the parliamentary realm.

During discussions on priority areas of interstate cooperation, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia, underpinned by equality and mutual respect. They acknowledged effective collaboration in trade, energy, industry, healthcare, and transport logistics.

The meeting highlighted the potential for elevating Turkmen-Georgian relations to a new level commensurate with their capabilities and needs. Strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation was deemed essential for enhancing the international legal framework and promoting mutual interests.

The humanitarian dimension of Turkmen-Georgian relations was underscored, emphasizing opportunities for closer ties in science, education, culture, and art.

President Berdimuhamedov extended an invitation to the Georgian Parliament Chairman to attend the International Forum of Heads of State and Government commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, a revered Turkmen poet and thinker. Scheduled for October 11 in Ashgabat, the event aims to promote Magtymguly Fragi’s creative heritage globally and foster cultural dialogue.

Acknowledging the invitation, Chairman Papuashvili highlighted Magtymguly Fragi’s significance as a national treasure and global cultural icon. He emphasized the international celebration’s role in advancing humanitarian dialogue and promoting peace and trust worldwide.

The meeting between President Berdimuhamedov and Chairman Papuashvili signals a commitment to strengthening Turkmen-Georgian ties across various sectors, deepening cooperation, and fostering enduring friendship between the two nations.
