Israeli Attack on School in Nuseirat, Gaza, Leaving 27 Dead
Gaza City, The Gulf Observer: At least 27 people have been killed and dozens wounded following an Israeli attack on a school housing displaced people in Nuseirat in central Gaza, according to Palestinian authorities.
Israel claimed to have targeted and killed several Palestinian fighters in what it described as a “precise strike,” although it did not provide evidence to support this assertion.
Official media in Gaza condemned the attack, describing it as a “horrific massacre… that shames humanity.” The 27 victims and numerous wounded individuals were taken to Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital for treatment.
Complicating the medical response, Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital reported an electrical generator failure earlier in the night, which posed significant challenges in treating the influx of patients.
This incident follows a period of intense violence in central Gaza. According to Doctors Without Borders (MSF), the hospital in Deir al Balah has been overwhelmed by a large number of casualties, including at least 70 dead and over 300 wounded since Tuesday. The majority of the victims are reported to be women and children.
MSF has highlighted the severe conditions at the hospital, noting that many patients are arriving with severe burns, shrapnel wounds, fractures, and other traumatic injuries. The hospital staff is struggling to cope with the “huge influx of patients,” further exacerbated by the recent generator failure.
This latest escalation underscores the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, as medical facilities and personnel face unprecedented challenges in treating the wounded amidst ongoing violence.
