Qatar and US Sign Letter of Intent on Security Cooperation for Major Sporting Events

Washington, The Gulf Observer: The State of Qatar and the United States of America have signed a Letter of Intent to cooperate on the security of major sporting events.

The agreement was signed in Washington by Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the US Secretary of Homeland Security, HE Alejandro Mayorkas.

This Letter of Intent aims to enhance joint bilateral cooperation by utilizing the expertise of Qatari security personnel gained during the successful securing of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. This knowledge will support efforts to secure the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

During their meeting, Minister Sheikh Khalifa and Secretary Mayorkas reviewed various aspects of security cooperation between the two countries. They discussed ways to enhance and develop these collaborations further and addressed issues of common concern.
