ADNOC Gas and EWEC Forge Strategic Partnership to Support UAE’s Energy Transformation

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: ADNOC Gas plc and its subsidiaries have entered into a landmark 10-year strategic partnership with Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) aimed at supporting the UAE’s energy transformation. This significant collaboration is anchored by a flexible natural gas sales and purchase agreement valued at $10 billion.

The agreement was celebrated at an event attended by Fatema Al Nuaimi, Chief Executive Officer of ADNOC Gas, and Othman Al Ali, Chief Executive Officer of EWEC, along with key representatives from both entities.

Fatema Al Nuaimi emphasized the value of the long-term partnership, which is designed to support the UAE’s increasing reliance on digitalization, resilient connectivity, and the adoption of advanced technologies across the nation’s economy. “By collaborating across the industrial value chain and leveraging Abu Dhabi’s vast gas reserves, we are ensuring the UAE’s self-sufficiency while fueling over two-thirds of the nation’s industries, driving sustainable economic growth and diversification,” she said.

Othman Al Ali highlighted the crucial role natural gas will play in the UAE’s energy transition, ensuring a stable supply that supports the integration of renewable and clean energy sources. “This partnership strengthens EWEC’s ability to deliver a secure, efficient, and decarbonized water and electricity system while contributing to the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative,” he remarked.

The flexible natural gas supply will be directed to plants across Abu Dhabi and the UAE, underscoring the shared commitment of ADNOC Gas and EWEC to drive sustainable economic growth and facilitate the UAE’s clean energy goals. As EWEC continues to innovate in renewable energy, gas-fired plants are providing critical transitional capacity to integrate large-scale renewable energy sources into the nation’s power grid.

This partnership aligns with ADNOC Gas’s strategy to support customers in their transition to cleaner energy solutions, offering reliable, secure, and flexible lower-carbon energy that will have a meaningful impact on the UAE’s carbon footprint while delivering long-term value for stakeholders.

The deal marks a significant step in the UAE’s drive to achieve its Net Zero ambitions by 2050, further enhancing the nation’s energy security and reinforcing its commitment to sustainable growth and innovation.
