Algerian President Tebboune Reviews Progress of Strategic Mining and Infrastructure Projects
Algiers, The Gulf Observer: Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired a high-level working meeting on Tuesday to assess the progress of several strategic structuring projects aimed at strengthening the country’s mining, transport, and industrial infrastructure, according to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic.
The meeting focused on key national development projects, including the integrated phosphate mine project linking Bled El Hadba, Oued Keberit, and Annaba, as well as the eastern mining railway line, which is expected to enhance the transportation of mineral resources.
Discussions also covered the Annaba Port expansion project, designed to boost the country’s logistics and export capacity, and the Gara Djebilet iron ore processing complex at Toumiat in Bechar province, one of Algeria’s flagship mining and industrial initiatives.
In addition, officials reviewed the progress of the Oued Amizour zinc and lead mine project in Bejaia province, which is expected to contribute significantly to the diversification of Algeria’s mining sector and support economic growth.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister, the Minister of State in charge of the General Inspectorate of State and Local Government Services, along with ministers and senior officials from the relevant sectors.
The review reflects the Algerian government’s continued commitment to accelerating the implementation of strategic infrastructure and mining projects as part of its broader agenda to diversify the national economy, enhance industrial development, and strengthen the country’s export potential.
