Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has called for joint efforts to strengthen the role of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in international affairs, particularly in international security, trade, energy security and transport connectivity.

Addressing security officials from OTS member states during a meeting, President Aliyev emphasized the importance of making greater use of the organization’s potential to enhance its international standing and influence.

“Through joint efforts, we must ensure that the OTS plays an even greater role in international affairs, in matters related to international security, international trade, energy security and transport connectivity. All of this is in our hands,” President Aliyev said.

The Azerbaijani President noted that developments of global importance are increasingly unfolding in the broader region, stressing the need for the OTS to make maximum use of its strategic potential.

He said strengthening the organization’s ability to contribute to international processes should be pursued through the principles of international law.

President Aliyev also underscored the importance of safeguarding the primacy of international law and preventing situations in which violations of international law remain unresolved for prolonged periods.

He called for continued cooperation among OTS member states to enhance the organization’s capacity to address regional and global challenges and contribute to international security and stability.
