Anwar Ibrahim Holds Meeting with Indonesia’s Prabowo Subianto Ahead of Inauguration
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim held a private meeting with Indonesia’s President-elect Prabowo Subianto on Saturday night, October 19, at Prabowo’s residence in South Jakarta. The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening the bond between the two neighboring nations.
Anwar, who is in Jakarta for a working visit at the invitation of the Indonesian government, is scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony of Prabowo as Indonesia’s eighth president on Sunday. In a Facebook post, Anwar expressed his appreciation for the close friendship and personal connection he shares with Prabowo, affirming that their relationship will benefit the people of both nations.
“Tonight, I met my true friend and brother, Mr. Prabowo Subianto. God willing, we will work more closely in an atmosphere of friendship, not only on a personal level, but also on a national level which will definitely benefit the people of both countries,” Anwar stated.
Anwar arrived in Jakarta on Saturday evening, joining a host of foreign dignitaries and heads of state who will witness Prabowo’s swearing-in as the new president of Indonesia. The inauguration ceremony is set to take place at the People’s Consultative Assembly building at 10 am local time on Sunday.
This meeting further cements the strong ties between Malaysia and Indonesia, as both leaders have expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, including trade, security, and regional stability.
