Putrajaya, The Gulf Observer: Malaysian Prime Minister hosted President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China and his high-level delegation at Seri Perdana for a state banquet held in a spirit of enduring friendship late yesterday evening.

This marks President Xi’s first State Visit to Malaysia in 12 years, a historic occasion symbolising the long-standing and genuine friendship between Malaysia and China. The Prime Minister emphasized that the warm ties between the two nations remain strong and continue to be reinforced through mutual trust, respect, and sincerity.

“At a time when the global geopolitical landscape is undergoing significant shifts, and certain parties are abandoning the principle of collective responsibility, China’s global initiatives offer fresh avenues for reform and cooperation,” the Prime Minister said.

He expressed deep respect and appreciation for President Xi’s leadership, particularly his consistent advocacy for shared prosperity, the advancement of civilisational values, and universal humanity. These values, the Prime Minister noted, stand in stark contrast to the growing trend among some countries to forsake cooperative responsibility in favour of heightened rivalry and economic weaponisation.

“In today’s increasingly complex world, China has emerged as a rational, stable, and principled partner,” he remarked. “Malaysia values this stability and will continue to nurture this friendship, rooted in a shared history and guided by a forward-looking vision.”

Quoting a Malay proverb, “air dicincang tidak akan putus” – meaning “water, though chopped, will not separate” – the Prime Minister drew a parallel with the Malaysia-China relationship, which has endured the test of time and continues to thrive.

He concluded his remarks with a heartfelt aspiration: “May the Malaysia-China friendship flourish like the depths of the ocean, remain steadfast like the stars in the sky, and shine as brightly as the dawn of shared prosperity.”
