UAE Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka Showcases Emirati Heritage Through Live Artisan Workshops

UAE Pavilion

Osaka, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai continues to captivate visitors with its immersive celebration of Emirati culture, spotlighting traditional handicrafts through live artisan workshops on the fourth day of the global exhibition.

Organised by Bait Al Harifeen (House of Artisans), the workshops feature a distinguished group of Emirati craftswomen, known as the “Mothers of the Emirates,” who bring to life centuries-old traditions rooted in the UAE’s desert heritage. Visitors are invited to engage directly in the crafting of Al Sadu (traditional weaving using the “Maghzal” or spindle), Talli (decorative braiding), and Khous (palm frond weaving).

These interactive experiences offer more than cultural insight—they allow visitors to create personalized souvenirs such as Talli medals, miniature spindle models, and Khous bookmarks, giving them a tangible piece of Emirati heritage to take home.

A standout feature of the pavilion includes large-scale artisan pieces crafted by Bait Al Harifeen. Among them is a striking Al Sadu installation in the “Healthcare” section—an intricate display that took two months to complete—and a heritage-inspired rocket model in the space exploration zone, symbolising the intersection of tradition and innovation.

This vibrant participation reflects the enduring spirit of the Emirati desert—defined by hospitality, resilience, and craftsmanship—passed down through generations. The live workshops will continue at the UAE Pavilion until April 19, offering Expo attendees a unique opportunity to witness and learn about the UAE’s cultural legacy in a modern, engaging setting.
