Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan Sign Comprehensive Program to Mark 30th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov signed and approved a comprehensive program of events to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan on Wednesday. The agreement was reached following bilateral talks between the two diplomats on the sidelines of the second trilateral meeting of foreign affairs, trade/economy, and transport ministers of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan in Ankara.

The document outlines a series of initiatives and collaborative activities that will celebrate three decades of diplomatic ties between the two nations, with an emphasis on strengthening their political, economic, trade, energy, transport, and communications partnership.

During the discussions, Bayramov and Saidov addressed a range of issues concerning the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan alliance, including regional and international security matters of mutual concern. The talks also touched upon prospects for cooperation within various international and regional frameworks, such as the Organization of Turkic States, the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Economic Cooperation, and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Foreign Minister Bayramov provided an update on Azerbaijan’s peace efforts in the region, highlighting existing challenges and threats to sustainable peacebuilding. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to further enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the years ahead.

The signing of this comprehensive program underscores the growing diplomatic and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, setting the stage for a deeper, more diversified alliance as the two nations celebrate this significant milestone.
