Azerbaijan and Vietnam Hold High-Level Talks to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a meeting on Monday with a Vietnamese delegation headed by Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The meeting underscored the two nations’ commitment to strengthening their bilateral and multilateral relations amid evolving regional and global developments.

During the talks, the sides reviewed the current state of Azerbaijan-Vietnam cooperation and explored avenues for its further expansion. Emphasizing the importance of high-level reciprocal visits and regular contacts, the ministers reiterated the role of the political consultation mechanism in sustaining and advancing the constructive political dialogue between the two countries.

The meeting highlighted the broad prospects for enhancing collaboration across diverse sectors, including economy, trade, energy security, agriculture, humanitarian affairs, tourism, and education. Both parties agreed on the need to fully leverage existing opportunities and emphasized the key role of the Azerbaijan-Vietnam Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in realizing joint initiatives.

In the multilateral context, the two sides discussed their cooperation within international and regional platforms such as the United Nations, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). They also emphasized the significance of implementing the decisions made at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Minister Bayramov briefed the Vietnamese delegation on the latest developments in the region following the recent conflict, including large-scale reconstruction and restoration efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, ongoing measures to address the mine threat, and progress in the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest, further reflecting the depth and dynamism of the Azerbaijan-Vietnam partnership.

In parallel with the ministerial talks, political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries. The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov, while the Vietnamese side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang. These consultations served as an additional platform for in-depth discussions on bilateral cooperation and coordination on global issues.
