Azerbaijan, EU Reach Preliminary Agreement on Partnership Priorities for 2026–2030

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan and the European Union have made progress in strengthening bilateral relations following two days of negotiations in Baku on a new Comprehensive Agreement and the Partnership Priorities document for 2026–2030.

The talks, held on June 2–3, were led by Yalchin Rafiyev on behalf of Azerbaijan and Audrone Perkauskiene on behalf of the European Union.

According to officials, the discussions were conducted in a constructive atmosphere, resulting in the preliminary agreement of the draft EU–Azerbaijan Partnership Priorities for the 2026–2030 period.

During negotiations on the proposed new Comprehensive Agreement, representatives from relevant Azerbaijani state institutions and their counterparts from the European Union engaged in detailed discussions on various sections of the draft document. The talks yielded progress in several areas, while outlining the next steps required to advance the negotiation process.

The meeting focused on enhancing the framework for future cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU, with both sides reviewing key aspects of political, economic, and sectoral collaboration under the prospective agreement.

At the conclusion of the negotiations, Azerbaijan and the European Union agreed to continue intensive discussions on the new bilateral agreement through both virtual and in-person formats, with the aim of further narrowing differences and advancing the document toward completion.

The latest round of talks reflects ongoing efforts by both parties to deepen their partnership and establish a comprehensive framework to guide cooperation in the coming years.
