Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan has joined the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev announced on Wednesday.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the Third Ministerial Meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities of OIC Member States in Baku, Aliyev said Azerbaijan had signed the convention and expressed hope that it would be ratified in the near future.

He noted that the convention would provide a framework for strengthening cooperation among OIC member states in combating corruption and enhancing coordination between relevant law enforcement authorities.

The Prosecutor General also highlighted Azerbaijan’s upcoming chairmanship of the organisation in the coming years, expressing hope that the country would continue to promote effective cooperation with OIC member states, particularly in the fight against corruption.

Aliyev said Azerbaijan’s accession to the convention reflected the political will of President Ilham Aliyev to combat corruption and strengthen international cooperation in this field.

The Third Ministerial Meeting in Baku brings together representatives of OIC member states to discuss ways to enhance cooperation, promote transparency and strengthen collective efforts against corruption-related offences.
