Azerbaijan, Thailand Hold Talks on Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Thai counterpart, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, on Monday on the margins of the 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) during his working visit to Bangkok.
The meeting focused on the current state and prospects for further development of relations between Azerbaijan and Thailand, with both sides highlighting the significant potential for expanding bilateral cooperation.
The two Foreign Ministers reviewed opportunities to enhance collaboration in the economic, trade, cultural, and tourism sectors.
They underscored the importance of the opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Thailand last December and the holding of the first round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries as key milestones in strengthening bilateral ties. The ministers noted that these steps contribute to building a solid institutional foundation and advancing constructive cooperation between Azerbaijan and Thailand.
The top diplomats emphasized the value of mutual interaction on multilateral platforms. They discussed ways to foster cooperation within the United Nations, UNESCAP, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and other international organizations.
Both ministers expressed confidence that the 82nd session of UNESCAP, chaired by Azerbaijan and hosted by Thailand, would yield fruitful results.
Minister Bayramov also briefed his Thai counterpart on Azerbaijan’s peace initiatives in the post-conflict period, including restoration efforts and demining operations in the country’s liberated territories.
The meeting reflects the mutual commitment of Azerbaijan and Thailand to deepening their bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
