Azerbaijan’s FM Jeyhun Bayramov Discusses Cooperation with CoE Secretary General at Munich Security Conference

Munich Security Conference

Munich, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a meeting with Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE), on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, News Hub Consultants reports, citing Azertag.

Discussions focused on the current agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the CoE, with Minister Bayramov reaffirming Azerbaijan’s commitment to the principles of rule of law, human rights, and democracy since joining the organization.

However, he also pointed out the recent prejudiced approach by certain CoE institutions towards Azerbaijan, stressing that such bias undermines constructive cooperation.

Concerns Over PACE’s Decision on Azerbaijani Delegation

Minister Bayramov expressed disappointment over the failure of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to ratify the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation last year, calling it a clear sign of discrimination against Azerbaijan.

He noted that such actions have closed existing channels of dialogue, negatively impacting mutual contacts and relations between Azerbaijan and the CoE.

Dialogue on Key Bilateral Issues

The meeting also covered other pressing issues on the bilateral agenda, as both sides discussed avenues for fostering cooperation and mutual interests within the framework of the Council of Europe.
