Bahrain Applauds UN General Assembly’s Resolution on Combatting Islamophobia
Manama, The Gulf Observer: The Kingdom of Bahrain extends a warm welcome to the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of a resolution aimed at combatting Islamophobia, coinciding with the observance of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.
The resolution, which garnered widespread support, denounces all forms of incitement to discrimination, hostility, or violence against Muslims. It particularly condemns incidents such as the desecration of holy books, attacks on mosques, and other acts of religious intolerance, negative stereotyping, hatred, and violence directed towards Muslims.
In a significant move, the resolution also calls for the appointment of a United Nations Special Envoy tasked specifically with combatting Islamophobia, reflecting the international community’s commitment to addressing this pressing issue.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain reaffirmed its steadfast support for global initiatives aimed at fostering tolerance and dialogue among adherents of different religions, cultures, and civilizations. The Ministry reiterated Bahrain’s unequivocal rejection of religious, sectarian, and racist hate speech in all its forms.
Emphasizing Bahrain’s dedication to promoting peace, understanding, and acceptance of others, the Ministry underscored the importance of concerted efforts to cultivate a culture of harmony and mutual respect. Such efforts, it stated, are crucial for fostering an environment where the principles of fraternity, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence thrive within all communities.
The Kingdom of Bahrain remains committed to collaborating with the international community in advancing initiatives that promote inclusivity, tolerance, and respect for diversity, thereby contributing to a more harmonious and cohesive global society.
