Belarusian Speaker Applauds Growing Belarus-Pakistan Relations as Outgoing Ambassador Bids Farewell
Minsk, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko lauded the progress in Belarus-Pakistan relations during a meeting with outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan Sajjad Haider Khan on January 3.
“Four years of your work in Belarus have flown by. It seems that you arrived just recently, and it is already time to return and start a new chapter,” Sergeyenko remarked. “Despite the short timeframe, the relations between Belarus and Pakistan have significantly advanced during your tenure.”
The Speaker highlighted the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations last year, which included several high-level meetings and landmark visits. Notably, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to Pakistan in November 2024 resulted in a meeting with the Pakistani Prime Minister and the signing of a roadmap for cooperation for 2025-2027, charting new avenues for bilateral collaboration.
In October 2024, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Government Meeting in Pakistan. Sergeyenko expressed gratitude to Pakistan for being among the first to ratify the memorandum on Belarus’ SCO accession.
The Speaker also praised the visit of Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Sardar Sadiq, which fostered meaningful dialogue between parliamentarians on socio-economic and political issues. “The agreements reached during these discussions are being actively implemented,” Sergeyenko said, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary cooperation in strengthening ties.
Sergeyenko commended Ambassador Khan’s role in enhancing cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries. “You have laid a solid foundation for your successor to build upon. I am confident that the high level of Belarusian-Pakistani relations will continue to serve as a reliable basis for dynamic cooperation across all sectors,” he added.
The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to deepening their partnership, building on the momentum established in recent years.
