Wang Yi to Embark on Africa Tour from January 5 to 11

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to visit Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, Chad, and Nigeria from January 5 to 11, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Friday. The trip underscores China’s longstanding commitment to deepening ties with African nations.

This visit marks the 35th consecutive year that a Chinese foreign minister’s first overseas trip of the year is dedicated to Africa. This tradition reflects the significance Beijing places on its partnerships across the continent and its ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties with African nations.

Wang Yi’s visit will focus on consolidating bilateral relations, promoting cooperation in areas such as trade, infrastructure development, and health, and advancing shared interests on global platforms.

China has been Africa’s largest trading partner for over a decade, with initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) serving as cornerstones of their collaborative agenda.

The visit is expected to reinforce China’s strategic partnerships in the region and pave the way for new agreements that will enhance mutual development and prosperity.
