China Vows to Deepen Cooperation with Cambodia for Mutual Development: Wang Yi
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia during his meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea on Sunday.
Highlighting the importance of mutual trust and collaboration, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the need to deepen strategic ties and promote the development of the China-Cambodia community with a shared future.
“In the face of a complex international environment, China and Cambodia should enhance high-level strategic guidance and ensure the construction of the China-Cambodia community with a shared future progresses in the right direction,” Wang stated.
He further emphasized the importance of practical cooperation across various sectors, increased people-to-people exchanges, and enhanced multilateral coordination.
Wang Yi outlined China’s willingness to enhance strategic synergy and comprehensive cooperation in six major fields, including politics, production capacity, agriculture, energy, security, and people-to-people exchanges.
Moreover, he underscored the significance of the 2024 China-Cambodia People-to-People Exchange Year in fostering friendly relations and combatting illegal activities such as online gambling and human trafficking.
Echoing Wang’s sentiments, Sok Chenda Sophea reaffirmed Cambodia’s adherence to the one-China policy and expressed eagerness to deepen cooperation with China.
“Cambodia looks forward to more collaboration with China and welcomes increased investment from Chinese companies,” Sok Chenda Sophea remarked.
He also reiterated Cambodia’s opposition to external disruptions in the region and pledged to work closely with China to ensure the healthy development of East Asian cooperation and safeguard regional peace and stability.
The meeting between the Chinese and Cambodian officials signifies the enduring friendship and commitment to mutual development between the two nations, paving the way for deeper cooperation in various fields.
