Chinese and Brazilian FMs Praise Bilateral Cooperation

Brasilia, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Brazilian counterpart, Mauro Vieira, convened in Brasilia on Thursday, emphasizing the strategic significance of collaboration between their nations. The meeting held special importance as 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brazil and China.

Minister Vieira highlighted the steady development of Brazil-China relations in recent years, emphasizing the expanding areas of cooperation. Expressing anticipation for the upcoming 2024 G20 Rio de Janeiro summit, Vieira emphasized the opportunity to strengthen high-level exchanges, inject vigor into bilateral relations, and pave the way for the next 50 years of Brazil-China friendly cooperation.

Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, expressed China’s appreciation for the enduring friendship between the two nations. He conveyed China’s readiness to leverage the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations to enhance high-level exchanges and plan celebratory events, propelling the comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights.

Wang affirmed China’s support for Brazil hosting the G20 summit and encouraged Brazil to play a more prominent role in international and regional affairs. He underscored China’s commitment to collaborating with Brazil in building a world characterized by lasting peace, universal security, openness, inclusiveness, common prosperity, and environmental sustainability, emphasizing the shared responsibility to protect the planet. The ministers concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to further strengthening the enduring bond between China and Brazil.
