Chinese Vice Premier Calls for High-Quality Development in Commercial Spaceflight Sector
Hainan, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing has underscored the importance of promoting high-quality development in the commercial spaceflight sector, emphasizing its role in advancing new quality productive forces and contributing to the country’s modernization efforts.
During an inspection tour in Hainan Province from Friday to Sunday, Zhang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, visited several key sites, including the industrial service center of Wenchang International Aerospace City, the province’s remote sensing satellite information and service platform, and the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site.
Zhang highlighted the necessity of advancing research into core technologies related to commercial satellites and rockets. He stressed the importance of supporting cutting-edge technologies and fostering disruptive innovation. Additionally, he called for the deep integration of innovation and industrial chains, advocating for the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements to drive the sector forward.
The Vice Premier also emphasized the need for steady progress in constructing commercial space launch sites, optimizing operational and management processes, and enhancing launch capabilities and efficiency. He noted that these efforts should be aligned with future launch needs to ensure the sector’s readiness for upcoming challenges.
In his remarks, Zhang also addressed the critical importance of safety within the commercial spaceflight sector. He called for the establishment and continuous improvement of a safety supervision system that covers the entire life cycle of research, production, testing, launch, tracking, telemetry, command (TTC), operation, and maintenance. Ensuring safety and control at every stage is essential to supporting the high-quality development of the commercial spaceflight sector, he added.
Zhang’s visit and directives are seen as a significant push towards strengthening China’s position in the global commercial spaceflight industry, aligning with the nation’s broader goals of technological innovation and modernization.
