Dozens Arrested During Anti-Immigrant Protests Across UK

London, The Gulf Observer: Dozens of individuals were arrested during anti-immigrant protests in multiple cities across the United Kingdom on Saturday. The protests, organized by far-right groups in response to the recent murder of three children in Southport, escalated into clashes with law enforcement and instances of looting, according to NHC reports.

Police in various counties reported the following arrests: 20 in Lancashire, 10 in Staffordshire, six in Liverpool, four in Kingston-upon-Hull, and two teenagers in Hartlepool. Bristol also saw several arrests as rioting continued late into the evening. A footage captured scenes of looting, including a convenience store in Manchester and several businesses, such as a mobile phone shop in Liverpool. Additionally, a car and a café were set ablaze in Belfast, while multiple shops were vandalized in Kingston-upon-Hull.

In Liverpool, protesters threw bottles and cobblestones at police officers, with some demonstrators using fire extinguishers. Two police officers were hospitalized with suspected broken jaws and noses. In another incident, protesters knocked down and assaulted a police officer on a motorcycle. The Daily Mail published images of hooligans in Bristol hurling beer barrels at police cars.

The unrest underscores the heightened tensions and divisions within the UK, as far-right groups capitalize on tragic events to foment anti-immigrant sentiment and violence.
