Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 15 in the Philippines

Manila, The Gulf Observer: The death toll from the magnitude-7.8 earthquake has risen to 15, according to officials from the Philippine Office of Civil Defence.

Local Civil Defence Office Director Rodrigo Sosmeña stated that 12 of the fatalities were reported in Soccsksargen, a region comprising the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and the city of General Santos City.

He added that at least 129 people have been reported injured across the affected areas, with emergency response operations continuing as authorities assess damage and provide assistance to survivors.
