Egypt to hold presidential elections in December 2023
Cairo, The Gulf Observer: Egypt’s National Election Authority (NEA) has announced that voting in the 2024 presidential election in the country will be held on 10,11 and 12 December 2023, adding that Egyptians abroad will cast their votes on 1,2,3 December 2023.
Walid Hamza, the head of the NEA, who was speaking during a press conference, also said that those seeking to run in the 2024 presidential election can file their candidacy between 5 and 14 October.
In case of a runoff, he added, the vote will take place on 8,9, and 10 January 2024 inside the country and on 5,6, and 7 January 2024 abroad.
These elections will be held under full judicial supervision, Hamza also said, noting that presidential candidates must secure endorsements from 20 MPs or 25,000 registered voters across at least 15 governorates, with a minimum of 1,000 endorsements from each governorate.
