First Kurultai of Composers of Turkic World Opens in Baku

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The opening ceremony of the First Kurultai of Composers of the Turkic World was held at the Union of Azerbaijani Composers as part of the 18th Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival.

The festival is co-organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture.

The Kurultai was jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture and the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, in cooperation with the Baku Regional Office of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the Union of Azerbaijani Composers, and the Azerbaijan National Conservatory.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture Murad Huseynov said the First Kurultai of Composers of the Turkic World provides an important platform for international cooperation. He noted that the gathering brings together the creative potential of composers, supports young musical talents and contributes to promoting the rich musical heritage of the Turkic world.

President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova said the organization aims to establish a vibrant common musical space in which the rich heritage of the Turkic world can serve as a source of new compositions, professional cooperation and international cultural dialogue.

Director of the ICESCO Regional Office Abdulhakeem Fahad Alsenan highlighted the strong cooperation between ICESCO and Azerbaijan. He noted that the organization’s Baku Regional Office plays a special role in further strengthening and developing this cooperation.

Chairperson of the Union of Azerbaijani Composers and People’s Artist Firangiz Alizadeh emphasized the deep musical ties connecting the countries of the Turkic world.

The Kurultai brings together representatives of the musical and cultural communities of Turkic countries to promote professional exchange, strengthen cultural cooperation and further develop the shared musical heritage of the Turkic world.
