Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: During the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held on July 19, Deputy Prime Minister Myahrijemal Mammedova presented a comprehensive report on the preparations for the upcoming Gorkut Ata International Film Festival. Scheduled for November 4-5, 2024, this prestigious event is set to showcase the cultural richness and cinematic achievements of Turkic nations, in accordance with a special Plan approved by the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan dated January 4, 2023.

The festival, named after the revered Turkmen literary figure, Gorkut Ata, promises a diverse program aimed at promoting cultural exchange and cinematic artistry. Among the highlights are:

  1. Forum of Cinematographic Heads of Turkic States: A pivotal gathering with the participation of the Secretary General of TURKSOY, facilitating dialogue and collaboration within the Turkic cinematographic community.
  2. Film Screenings: Featuring captivating films from participating countries, to be showcased in cinemas and cinema concert centers across Ashgabat, the capital city.
  3. Master Classes: Led by renowned foreign actors and directors, offering invaluable insights and skills to aspiring filmmakers and enthusiasts.
  4. Cultural Program: Enriching experiences await delegates, including visits to iconic landmarks such as the city of Arkadag, the Seýit Jemaleddin architectural complex, and the Ak bugdaý National Museum in Anau, recently designated as the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2024.
  5. Equestrian Performances: Highlighting Turkmenistan’s equestrian heritage, delegates will visit the International Akhal-Teke Equestrian Complex and witness performances by the acclaimed Galkynyş National Equestrian Games Group.

Deputy Prime Minister Mammedova proposed the specific dates of November 4-5 to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to ensure the structured participation of international guests. President Berdimuhamedov, acknowledging the significance of these events coinciding with Anau’s prestigious cultural designation, endorsed the proposal and instructed all necessary measures to be taken for the successful organization of the Gorkut Ata International Film Festival.

This event underscores Turkmenistan’s commitment to fostering cultural diplomacy and celebrating the cinematic achievements of Turkic nations on a global stage.
