Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Meets Çalyk Holding Chairman

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: On May 25, 2026, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a meeting with Ahmet Çalık, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Çalyk Holding Group of Companies. The discussions focused on the progress of major ongoing construction and infrastructure development projects being implemented in Turkmenistan.
At the outset of the meeting, Ahmet Çalık expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet and conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people. He also extended congratulations to the National Leader and the people of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the widely celebrated Ashgabat City Day.
In response, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked him for the kind words and conveyed reciprocal greetings and best wishes to the President of Türkiye, both on his own behalf and on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. He noted his pleasure in welcoming the Turkish businessman to Turkmenistan and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation.
Ahmet Çalık briefed the Turkmen side on the activities of Çalyk Holding in the country, highlighting ongoing large-scale projects. These include the accelerated construction of a modern combined-cycle power plant on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea, which is expected to be among the largest in the region, as well as a major new urea production complex currently under development in the Turkmenbashi etrap of the Balkan region.
The meeting also reviewed the ongoing modernization of the Ahal-Teke Equestrian Complex of the President of Turkmenistan. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined the importance of integrating digital technologies and advanced international practices in the design and operation of energy facilities, medical centers, and equestrian infrastructure. He stressed that modern high-tech systems at the equestrian complex should ensure proper ventilation in stables and continuous monitoring of the health of horses.
During the discussion, Ahmet Çalık congratulated the National Leader on the successful performance of the “Galkynyş” National Equestrian Games Group at the International Ethnosport and Culture Festival held in Istanbul, where the group received a prestigious award. He also noted that Bilal Erdoğan attended the event and showed great interest in the performance of the Ahal-Teke horses, extending his congratulations on the achievement.
The National Leader also expressed his deep condolences to Ahmet Çalık on the passing of his father, Mahmut Çalık, and conveyed words of sympathy and support to the bereaved family. Ahmet Çalık expressed sincere gratitude for the gesture during this difficult time.
In line with Turkmen traditions, condolences were further expressed, and verses from the Holy Quran were recited for the eternal peace of the deceased’s soul.
Ahmet Çalık reaffirmed his commitment to contributing to the successful implementation of major development projects in Turkmenistan, emphasizing his dedication to strengthening cooperation and supporting national development initiatives in the country.
