Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Pakistan, H.E. Mohamed Karmoune, has underscored the importance of deepening diplomatic, economic, and cultural cooperation between Morocco and Pakistan, with particular focus on trade, tourism, education, and renewable energy collaboration.

Speaking during an interview with the The Gulf Observer, Ambassador Karmoune highlighted that Morocco and Pakistan enjoy longstanding ties rooted in shared values, Islamic solidarity, and mutual respect. He emphasized that both countries are working closely in international forums to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development.

The Ambassador pointed out that chambers of commerce, trade fairs, and direct engagement between the business communities of both nations play a pivotal role in enhancing economic ties. He encouraged entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in sectors such as textiles, agriculture, renewable energy, and tourism, stating that such partnerships will lead to increased trade and mutual growth.

Touching upon historical ties, Ambassador Karmoune acknowledged that Morocco and Pakistan share common cultural and religious values, but emphasized the need to further deepen people-to-people contact. “We can strengthen our bond through academic exchanges, tourism, and cultural events, fostering understanding among youth, scholars, and professionals,” he remarked.

On the preservation of shared historical narratives, the Ambassador highlighted Morocco’s commitment to promoting cultural heritage and facilitating academic cooperation to celebrate the rich traditions of both nations.

He also noted that partnerships between Moroccan and Pakistani educational institutions are expanding, particularly in higher education and research. “There is great potential for joint academic programs, scholarships, and scientific collaboration, especially in areas of mutual interest such as science, technology, and innovation,” he added.

Ambassador Karmoune emphasized Morocco’s achievements in renewable energy under the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. “Morocco has become a global leader in green energy, particularly in solar, wind, and hydroelectric power. We believe Morocco and Pakistan can collaborate in developing sustainable energy solutions and addressing climate change challenges,” he stated.

On the topic of tourism, the Moroccan envoy said efforts are ongoing to promote tourism exchanges, cultural festivals, and easier travel opportunities to enhance people-to-people connections. “Tourism is a bridge that fosters mutual understanding, and both Morocco and Pakistan possess unique cultural and historical treasures worth exploring,” he observed.

Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Karmoune conveyed a message of friendship to the people of Pakistan. “The people of Morocco hold great respect and affection for Pakistan. I encourage greater collaboration across all fields and invite our Pakistani friends to discover the beauty, diversity, and opportunities that Morocco offers,” he said.
