Indonesia Launches National Exercise Program to Promote Healthy Lifestyles Among Students
Kudus, The Gulf Observer: The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, introduced the Great Indonesian Children Exercise program during an event in Kudus, Central Java, on Sunday.
The initiative was unveiled in a morning workout session attended by around a thousand students and teachers from elementary, junior high, and senior high schools at the Manafiul Ulum Islamic Elementary School yard.
Minister Mu’ti emphasized that the program is part of a broader character-building effort aimed at instilling a healthy lifestyle mindset among children nationwide. He highlighted plans to implement the program across Indonesia with the cooperation of the Ministries of Religious Affairs and Home Affairs.
The exercise program is a key component of the Morning Assembly initiative, which encourages schools to organize pre-class activities such as morning exercises, singing the national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” and group prayers.
Speaking to the attendees, Mu’ti urged schools to conduct these exercises every morning or at least twice a week to promote students’ physical fitness.
“In addition to the Morning Assembly program, we are also promoting the Seven Awesome Indonesian Children’s Habits initiative,” the minister said.
This complementary program encourages children to wake up early, engage in worship, exercise regularly, eat nutritious meals, study with enthusiasm, interact socially, and maintain a consistent bedtime routine.
Minister Mu’ti stressed that adopting these habits would significantly contribute to children’s physical and mental well-being, academic success, and overall development into responsible and disciplined individuals.
The ministry’s initiative reflects a commitment to nurturing a generation of healthy, active, and well-rounded Indonesian youth.
