Iran, Cuba Reaffirm Solidarity and Bilateral Cooperation During Islamabad Meeting

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Iran and Cuba have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and supporting one another on regional and international issues during a meeting between their ambassadors in Islamabad.
Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam, received Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba Damián Cordero Torres on a courtesy call at the Iranian Embassy. The meeting reflected the longstanding ties of solidarity and mutual respect between the two countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Cordero expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed his condolences over the loss of lives in Iran following the recent conflict involving the United States and Israel. He also paid tribute to the late former Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and expressed respect for the state funeral ceremonies being held in his honour.
The two diplomats exchanged views on regional and international developments and reaffirmed the positions of their respective governments on issues concerning national sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in the internal affairs of states.
The Cuban envoy also briefed his Iranian counterpart on the current economic challenges facing Cuba, including the impact of the longstanding United States embargo and additional unilateral measures imposed by Washington. He outlined Havana’s position on the effects of these restrictions on the country’s economy and energy sector.
For his part, Ambassador Amiri Moghadam expressed confidence in the resilience of the Cuban people and voiced optimism that Cuba would overcome its current challenges.
The meeting concluded with both ambassadors reaffirming their governments’ commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and continuing close coordination and mutual support within international and multilateral organizations.
