Iran, Pakistan Reaffirm Commitment to Expanding Bilateral Cooperation
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday reaffirmed the strong and longstanding relationship between Iran and Pakistan, praising Islamabad’s efforts to promote regional de-escalation and calling for the swift implementation of bilateral agreements to further strengthen cooperation.
Speaking during the credentials ceremony of Pakistan’s newly appointed Ambassador to Iran, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, President Pezeshkian described relations between the two neighbouring countries as extending beyond conventional diplomacy, rooted in deep historical, cultural, religious and fraternal ties.
He said Iran regards Pakistan as a trusted partner and a brotherly nation, underscoring Tehran’s commitment to elevating bilateral cooperation across economic, trade, security and other mutually beneficial sectors.
The Iranian president commended the leadership of Pakistan, particularly Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the country’s senior military leadership, for their constructive role in recent regional developments aimed at reducing tensions and promoting peace and stability.
He said the ongoing consultations and coordination between Tehran and Islamabad are highly valued by the Iranian government and people, adding that the existing level of cooperation does not yet fully reflect the vast potential of the two countries.
President Pezeshkian stressed the need for the early implementation of previously signed agreements and called for greater momentum in expanding bilateral collaboration in trade, investment, infrastructure, security and regional connectivity.
Receiving his credentials, Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui described Pakistan-Iran relations as a model of enduring friendship and historic solidarity, noting that both countries have consistently stood by each other during challenging times.
The ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties by promoting cooperation in trade, investment and infrastructure projects while exploring new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships.
He also underlined the importance of close security coordination in ensuring lasting regional peace and stability, emphasizing that challenges facing the Islamic world should be resolved through unity, dialogue and regional cooperation to prevent external interference.
Ambassador Siddiqui reiterated that Pakistan remains a sincere, responsible and reliable partner of Iran and is committed to deepening bilateral relations in the interest of peace, stability and shared prosperity.
