Jordan Neutralises 95 Iranian Aerial Threats, Strengthens Border Security
Amman, The Gulf Observer: The Jordanian Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) announced on Tuesday that its air defence systems successfully intercepted and neutralised 95 aerial threats launched from Iran over a 16-day period, safeguarding civilians and protecting critical infrastructure across the Kingdom.
According to an official JAF statement, the interceptions took place between July 9 and July 25 through coordinated operations by the Kingdom’s air defence systems and the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
The military said it destroyed 70 ballistic missiles and 25 explosive-laden drones after they entered Jordanian airspace. All aerial threats were intercepted over unpopulated areas, ensuring there were no civilian casualties or disruptions to daily life across the country.
The statement noted that the most intensive air defence operations occurred on July 24, when Jordanian forces intercepted seven missiles and six drones. On July 23, air defence units brought down four missiles and six drones, while six missiles were neutralised on July 22.
Earlier operations included the interception of 10 missiles and four drones on July 18, as well as eight missiles on July 9, highlighting the sustained readiness of Jordan’s armed forces throughout the period.
In addition to air defence operations, the JAF reported that Border Guard units successfully thwarted 11 infiltration and smuggling attempts along Jordan’s northern, eastern, and southern borders. Security forces also intercepted three remotely guided balloons and three drones carrying narcotics, confiscating the illicit shipments before they could reach their destinations.
The statement further revealed that border patrols arrested five individuals attempting to cross the Kingdom’s borders illegally.
Commenting on the security situation, Mohsen stressed that inaccurate information often spreads rapidly during times of crisis. He underscored the importance of responsible journalism and relying on official sources to prevent public confusion and counter misinformation, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to transparency and national security.
