Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with U.S. President’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor in Astana, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to strengthening their expanded strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation across key sectors.

During the meeting, President Tokayev highlighted the strong level of Kazakhstan-U.S. cooperation and reiterated Astana’s readiness to further deepen bilateral ties. He emphasized the importance of the C5+1 dialogue on critical minerals, describing it as strategically significant for the development and economic prospects of Central Asia.

The Kazakh leader also conveyed his best wishes to U.S. President Donald Trump and expressed appreciation for the invitation to attend the G20 Summit scheduled to be held in Miami later this year.

For his part, Sergio Gor thanked President Tokayev for the meeting and conveyed greetings from President Trump. He noted that more than $20 billion worth of agreements and deals had been concluded between the United States and countries in the region over the past year, underscoring Washington’s growing engagement with Central Asia.

The two sides reviewed prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, with particular focus on critical minerals, transport, logistics and digitalization. They also exchanged views on key regional and international developments and reaffirmed their shared interest in broadening multifaceted Kazakhstan-U.S. cooperation.

President Tokayev reiterated Kazakhstan’s commitment to contributing to international stability, promoting humanitarian initiatives and supporting global peace efforts. The discussions also highlighted the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue and strengthening partnerships to address common regional and global challenges.
