Kazakhstan eyes potential energy projects with France

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov had a meeting with Nicolas Maes, Chief Operating Director of France’s Orano S.A. The sides discussed the relevant issues of cooperation in energy sector according to the Kazakhstan’s News Agency reports.

Orano is our important and reliable partner in energy. The company has been successfully working in Kazakhstan for 27 years. Our joint enterprise KATCO serves as an example of long-term and mutually beneficial partnership. We are ready to consider the opportunities of further development of the cooperation, said Smailov.

Nicolas Maes said, in turn, that Orano was interested in expanding its cooperation with Kazakhstan. He said large projects are needed to expand cooperation and proposed to renovate the relations based on certain projects.

Representatives of the Kazakh Energy Ministry, JSC Samruk-Kazyna and Kazatomprom National Company participated in the meeting as well, the government’s press service said.

Orano S.A. is a French company, one of the leaders of France’s nuclear industry. The company specializes in mining, processing and enrichment of uranium, transportation of nuclear fuel, radioactive waste management, etc.
