Kazakhstan Modernizes 71 Railway Stations Under Nationwide Infrastructure Upgrade

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan has completed the modernization and reconstruction of 71 railway stations as part of a nationwide programme aimed at upgrading railway infrastructure and improving the quality of passenger services.

The progress was reviewed at a meeting chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Nalibayev, which focused on the modernization and reconstruction of 124 railway stations across the country. Regional governors, representatives of the ministries responsible for transport, industry and construction, as well as senior executives of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, participated in the meeting.

According to reports presented during the meeting, 71 of the targeted railway stations have already been commissioned, while work on the remaining facilities is proceeding in accordance with approved schedules.

The meeting placed particular emphasis on meeting construction and modernization deadlines, maintaining high standards of workmanship and strengthening coordination among government agencies and contractors.

Following the review, Nalibayev directed the relevant government authorities to ensure the timely completion and commissioning of the remaining railway facilities. He also called for enhanced quality control over construction and installation works.

Earlier, three railway stations in the Ulytau region — in Zhanaarka, Kyzylzhar and Karazhal — were reported to have undergone renovation.

The modernization programme forms part of Kazakhstan’s broader efforts to improve its railway infrastructure and passenger services. In a related development, five passenger rail routes have also been equipped with satellite internet to enhance onboard connectivity for travelers.
