UAE, Jordan Leaders Discuss Bilateral Ties, Regional Developments

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan held a telephone conversation on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen cooperation across various fields.

During the call, the two leaders reviewed cooperation in the economic and development sectors, underscoring opportunities to advance shared priorities and promote prosperity for the peoples of both countries under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and Jordan.

The two sides highlighted the significance of the Aqaba–Al-Shidiyeh–Maan Railway Project, whose foundation stone was laid on Monday in Aqaba, Jordan. The project is being developed by the Jordan-UAE Railway Company.

The leaders affirmed that the railway project reflects the commitment of the UAE and Jordan to deepening their strategic partnership through major initiatives that serve shared priorities and contribute to the interests and prosperity of both nations.

The two leaders also exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest, particularly developments in the Middle East.

They reaffirmed their commitment to continued consultation and coordination to support efforts aimed at promoting regional security, stability and peace, in a manner that serves the interests of all peoples of the region.
