King Mohammed VI Grants Royal Pardon to Senegalese Football Supporters Ahead of Eid Al-Adha

Casablanca, The Gulf Observer: King Mohammed VI has granted a royal pardon to Senegalese football supporters convicted over offenses committed during the Africa Cup of Nations, according to a statement issued by the Royal Office.

The pardon was granted on humanitarian grounds and coincides with the occasion of Eid al-Adha, reflecting the longstanding brotherly relations between the Morocco and the Senegal.

The supporters had been sentenced for misdemeanors and crimes committed during the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which Morocco hosted from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

According to the Royal Office, the decision underscores the deep bonds of friendship, cooperation and solidarity that have historically united the two nations. The statement added that the royal pardon embodies Morocco’s enduring values of compassion, mercy, generosity, tolerance and kindness.

On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, King Mohammed VI also conveyed his sincere greetings and best wishes to Bassirou Diomaye Faye, as well as to the government and people of Senegal.

The statement concluded with prayers for the well-being of the King, Moulay El Hassan, Moulay Rachid, and all members of the Moroccan Royal Family.
