King Sultan Ibrahim Urges Military Readiness, Integrity in Defence and Caution on Social Media Amid Global Uncertainty

Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has called for the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) to remain in a constant state of readiness and be equipped with cutting-edge defence technologies in light of the increasingly volatile and uncertain global political landscape.
Speaking at the commissioning parade and presentation of appointment letters to 509 newly commissioned ATM cadet officers at Kem Perdana, Sungai Besi, on Friday, His Majesty stressed that recent conflicts, including the Iran-Israel war and the protracted violence in Gaza, have shown the inadequacy of international laws in preserving global peace.
“It is crucial for ATM to always be prepared and equipped with the latest technology to deal with any possibility, as we don’t know who is a friend and who is an enemy,” said Sultan Ibrahim.
The King also issued a stern reminder to the government to safeguard the integrity of defence procurement processes by avoiding political interference and resisting pressure from suppliers.
“ATM’s top leadership must also always act with integrity and steer clear of corrupt practices. As the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, I will not tolerate anyone who abuses their position for personal gain,” His Majesty asserted.
Sultan Ibrahim expressed concern over the irresponsible use of social media among military personnel, urging caution in the sharing of information. He warned that conflicts such as the ongoing Iran-Israel war have demonstrated how data harvested from tech companies, apps, and social platforms can be weaponised.
“I want this to stop immediately. Use sound judgment and refrain from disclosing unnecessary information to the public. It is better to be cautious now than to regret later,” he said, as reported by Bernama.
Congratulating the 509 cadet officers on completing their training, His Majesty reminded them that a military career demands sacrifices, personal resilience, unwavering honesty, and loyalty to the King and the nation.
He further called on the new officers to be disciplined leaders who focus on effective training, the well-being of their personnel, and maintaining high standards of professionalism.
The ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Khaled Nordin, Chief of Defence Forces General Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar, Army Chief General Tan Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan, Navy Chief Admiral Tan Sri Dr Zulhelmy Ithnain, and Air Force Chief General Datuk Muhamad Norazlan Aris.
