P2MI Convenes National Meeting to Strengthen Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) is convening a two-day national coordination meeting aimed at formulating comprehensive and integrated strategies to strengthen the protection of Indonesian migrant workers.
“This meeting aims to align our priorities and strategic direction,” said P2MI Minister Abdul Kadir Karding during the event, which commenced in Jakarta on Saturday, June 28.
Running through June 29, the meeting brings together key stakeholders to focus on strategies for achieving migrant worker placement targets, while also addressing mechanisms for preventing illegal labor migration. A significant portion of the discussions is dedicated to enhancing cooperation between regional and village governments in supporting the reintegration and empowerment of returning migrant workers.
“We must protect our migrant workers from violence, including human trafficking, and ensure their safe and legal placement in destination countries,” Minister Karding stressed, underlining the government’s commitment to safeguarding citizens working abroad.
The coordination meeting is expected to result in critical policy recommendations that will serve as the foundation for improved governance, worker empowerment, and expanded overseas job opportunities for Indonesians.
