Minister Fauzi Advocates for Universal Access to Education and Digital Literacy for Women

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifah Fauzi, has issued a decisive call for nationwide gender parity, emphasizing that equal access to formal education, digital literacy, and economic opportunities is a fundamental right for all Indonesian women.
Speaking at the opening of the National Women’s Forum on Wednesday, Minister Fauzi underscored that the government is moving beyond rhetoric to integrate gender-responsive policies into the very fabric of national development.
A Comprehensive Framework for Equality
The Minister outlined a multi-sectoral approach to strengthening the status of women, highlighting several key areas of governmental focus:
- Policy Integration: Mainstreaming gender perspectives across all development sectors, including climate change and sustainability initiatives.
- Protection & Participation: Strengthening legal protections for women and children while actively increasing female representation in high-level decision-making.
- Economic Empowerment: Recognizing women as the primary drivers of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and vital contributors to family economic stability.
Women as Strategic Partners
Minister Fauzi challenged the traditional view of women as passive beneficiaries, instead framing them as “strategic partners” in national progress. She identified women as the “central pillar” of society, serving as the primary educators within the family unit and the architects of social cohesion.
“Empowering women is a necessity, not an option. Gender equality must be the foundation of development, not just a topic of discussion,” Fauzi stated. “National resilience starts from the family, with women as the cornerstone.”
Future Objectives
The National Women’s Forum, themed “Safeguarding National Resilience,” serves as a catalyst for:
- Collective Commitment: Building a unified front to enhance women’s roles in society.
- Innovation: Fostering new approaches to empowerment programs.
- Cross-Sector Collaboration: Ensuring sustainable partnerships between the government and private sectors.
In her closing remarks, the Minister reiterated that “high-quality development is impossible without gender equality,” reaffirming the state’s commitment to realizing a truly inclusive and just Indonesia.
