Monument to Renowned Kazakh Writer Mukhtar Auezov Unveiled in Astana
Astana, The Gulf Observer: A monument honoring the legacy of acclaimed Kazakh writer Mukhtar Auezov was officially unveiled today in Astana. The ceremony was attended by the State Counselor of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Erlan Karin, along with Diar Konayev, a relative of the writer. The event was held in the presence of prominent intellectuals, cultural figures, members of the public council, deputies of the municipal maslikhat, and Auezov’s relatives, according to a statement from the Akorda press service.
On behalf of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, State Counselor Erlan Karin read a congratulatory address that highlighted Auezov’s profound contributions to Kazakh literature and culture.
“Mukhtar Auezov is a great writer who occupies a special place in the spiritual life of our nation. In his works, he masterfully reflected the worldview and lifestyle of our people. His works vividly demonstrate the richness of the Kazakh language and the deep roots of our unique civilization,” the President’s message read.
The newly unveiled monument, designed by prominent sculptors Aidos Burkitbayev and Timur Yermukhametov, has been placed in front of the Kalibek Kuanyshbayev Kazakh National Music and Drama Theatre. It is a tribute to Auezov’s lasting influence on Kazakh literary heritage and his role in shaping national identity.
The ceremony served as a reminder of Auezov’s enduring impact on the intellectual and cultural life of Kazakhstan. His works continue to inspire future generations and remain a cornerstone of the country’s artistic and literary history.
