Nakhchivan Regional DOST Center Opens to Expand Social Services
Nakhchivan, The Gulf Observer : President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of the Nakhchivan Regional DOST Center of the Agency for Sustainable and Operative Social Provision (DOST Agency) under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population on August 11.
The center began providing services to citizens following its inauguration, marking a significant step toward improving access to social protection and employment services in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Covering approximately 3,500 square meters, the center is designed to serve an average of 500 to 600 citizens daily. More than 100 employees are currently working at the facility, while about 50 volunteers will support citizens through various subprograms of the “Volunteer DOST” initiative.
According to Farid Mammadov, Chairperson of the Board of the DOST Agency, the center was constructed in a modern architectural style and incorporates facilities including a Medical-Social Expert Commission and a room for the DOST Inclusive Development and Creativity Center.
The center will provide 164 services across 15 areas, including social protection, employment and labor relations.
Mammadov said the new facility would significantly improve the accessibility and efficiency of services for citizens registered in Nakhchivan. He noted that, previously, residents of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic had mainly accessed DOST services electronically, online or through the Call Center.
“With the opening of the Regional DOST Center, citizens will now be able to receive these services directly at the facility, ensuring more convenient and prompt access,” he said.
The DOST Agency was established pursuant to a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on August 9, 2018. The agency provides services in labor and social protection, including pensions, benefits, allowances, labor relations and employment.
Established at the initiative of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, the DOST Agency currently provides 164 services across 15 areas, contributing to the expansion and modernization of Azerbaijan’s social service delivery system.
