New Regulations Enhance Visa-Free Travel Between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan announces the implementation of new regulations governing visa-free travel between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. The Protocol, introducing amendments and additions to the Agreement on visa-free travel between the two nations, signed on June 18, 1997, came into effect on January 15, 2024.

The Protocol, signed in Baku on August 22, 2023, establishes a revised procedure for entry, exit, transit, and stay within the territories of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan for a period of up to 15 days without the need for obtaining a permit or temporary registration with the relevant state authorities.

Under the new regulations, citizens of Uzbekistan can now stay in Azerbaijan without a permit and temporary registration for an extended duration of 15 days, compared to the previous limit of five days. This enhancement facilitates increased travel flexibility for Uzbekistan citizens visiting Azerbaijan.

Reciprocally, Azerbaijani citizens in Uzbekistan will also benefit from the revised regulations, allowing them to stay in Uzbekistan for up to 15 days without the requirement for a permit or temporary registration, fostering greater ease of travel between the two nations.

The implementation of these updated visa-free travel arrangements reflects the commitment of both Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to strengthen people-to-people ties, promote tourism, and facilitate more straightforward exchanges between the citizens of the two countries.
