Oman Launches First AI-Powered Asphalt Self-Paving Technology in Dhofar Road Project

Maqshan, The Gulf Observer: The Wilayat of Maqshan in Oman’s Dhofar Governorate has witnessed the launch of the country’s first artificial intelligence-powered asphalt self-paving technology, introduced as part of the Sultan Said bin Taimur Road Dualization Project (Phase 4).

The initiative reflects the vision of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to integrate advanced technologies into infrastructure development, with the aim of accelerating construction timelines while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

A formal ceremony marking the launch was held under the auspices of Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al Saqri described the introduction of the technology as a significant advancement in Oman’s roads sector, noting that it represents a broader shift toward automation in construction projects across the Sultanate.

He added that the initiative aligns with Oman’s national direction to adopt modern technologies in infrastructure development, supporting long-term economic development goals.

The newly deployed system features smart technologies designed to ensure high precision in road paving operations, while enhancing the durability, quality, and sustainability of asphalt surfaces.
