Oman, Norway Review Bilateral Ties, Stress De-escalation and Maritime Security

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman, on Wednesday received Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Norway, in Muscat to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional developments.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the existing relations between Oman and Norway and explored avenues to further strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors in line with their shared interests.

The discussions also covered a range of pressing regional and international issues. The two officials underscored the importance of creating conditions conducive to de-escalation, intensifying efforts to reduce tensions, and advancing political and diplomatic solutions. They reaffirmed their commitment to preserving regional security and stability, upholding international law, and adhering to the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Particular attention was given to developments related to maritime security and the freedom of navigation. Both sides highlighted the need to safeguard shipping routes and ensure the smooth flow of global supply chains, recognizing their critical role in maintaining the stability of the global economy.

They also emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue and coordination on issues of mutual concern, while supporting broader efforts aimed at تعزيز (strengthening) peace, security, and stability at both regional and international levels.

The meeting was attended by Munthir bin Mahfoudh Al Manthri, Head of the Europe Department at Oman’s Foreign Ministry, and Kjersti Tromsdal, along with other officials from both sides.
