Pakistan and Tajikistan Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation in Key Sectors
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: On Friday, Pakistan and Tajikistan agreed to further enhance cooperation in key sectors such as communication, land-based connectivity, energy, education, and agriculture. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Tajikistan’s Energy Minister Daler Jumma, who is in Pakistan to participate in the Pakistan-Tajikistan Joint Commission.
The two sides discussed regional connectivity projects, including the CASA-1000 energy transmission project, and explored avenues for advancing mutual collaboration in various sectors. Prime Minister Sharif welcomed Minister Jumma to Pakistan and expressed satisfaction with the progress made in bilateral relations, particularly during the Joint Commission’s recent sessions.
In the meeting, the Prime Minister also reflected on his recent visits to Tajikistan and his discussions with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Riyadh and Baku. He conveyed his best wishes to President Rahmon and expressed hope for his upcoming visit to Pakistan, noting the importance of implementing memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and agreements reached during his visit.
Minister Jumma thanked the Prime Minister for his warm welcome and emphasized the importance of further strengthening the ties between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Investment and Communication Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Energy Awais Ahmed Leghari, Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik, Advisor to the PM Tariq Fatemi, and other relevant government officials.
