47th

Manila, The Gulf Observer: The Philippine Aquatics, Inc. (PAI) has announced the official roster of athletes who will represent the country at the 47th Southeast Asia (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championships, scheduled from June 19 to 29 in Singapore.

Leading the national delegation is Jamesray Mishael Ajido, a promising young swimmer and incoming Grade 10 student at La Salle Green Hills. Ajido clocked personal bests of 55.40 seconds in the 100m butterfly, 25.37 seconds in the 50m butterfly, and 24.13 seconds in the 50m freestyle during the PAI tryouts held in April.

Joining Ajido on the swimming team are Albert Jose Amaro II, Ryian Zach Denzel Belen, Alexander Eichler, Ava Samantha Bautista, Kyle Louise Bulaga, Riannah Chantelle Coleman, FJ Catherine Cruz, Sophia Garra, and Patricia Mae Santor.

“The tryouts were very challenging because I was competing against 18-year-old swimmers. But I thanked the Lord I was able to hit two QTS (qualifying time standards),” said Ajido, 16. He has also qualified for the World Aquatics Junior Championships in Romania this August and the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain this October.

Ajido previously captured gold in the boys’ 12–14 100m butterfly at the 11th Asian Age Group Championships held at New Clark City Aquatics Center in Tarlac last year.

For artistic swimming, the Philippine team will be represented by Maddison Violet Durban, Zoe Lim, and Antonia Lucia Raffaele.

The men’s water polo team includes Elijah Caleb De Leon, Lance Edrick Adalin, Matthew Cameron Dasig, Julian Christi Malubag, Miel Joaquin Ugaban, Kenzzie Trey Dumanglas, Sebastien Albert Castro, Niklas Joaquin De Guzman, Matthew Vincent Romero, Joaquin Federico Mirasol, Alexandre Gabriel, Dave Russel Geda, and Sean Gabriel Enero.

Ferdinand Quilop will serve as head of the delegation, with coaches Ramil Lustre and Isagani Corpuz (swimming), Maria Graciella Jasmina Sanchez (artistic swimming), and Sherwin De La Paz and Filip Stojanovic (water polo) accompanying the team.

“We would like to congratulate all the athletes for this event and extend our sincere appreciation to their coaches for their dedication and hard work. We encourage all participants to continue their preparation with focus and determination,” said PAI president Michael Angelo Vargas in a statement.
