Philippine Official Praises UAE as Model for Workers’ Rights During Independence Day Celebration

Dubai, The Gulf Observer: Hans Leo Cacdac, Undersecretary for Welfare and Foreign Employment at the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), has hailed the United Arab Emirates as a global model in the protection and promotion of workers’ rights.

Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the “Kalayaan 2025” Philippine Independence Day celebration in Dubai, Cacdac commended the UAE’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the dignity, welfare, and rights of workers, particularly migrant workers.

He emphasized the strong bilateral ties between the Philippines and the UAE, highlighting a shared commitment to protecting overseas Filipino workers and ensuring their well-being. “We are optimistic about further strengthening our partnership, especially in the area of migrant worker protection,” Cacdac stated, expressing gratitude for the UAE’s continuous support and proactive initiatives.

Cacdac also stressed the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation to improve conditions for Filipino workers in the region. He reiterated the DMW’s commitment to expanding collaboration with UAE authorities for the mutual benefit of both nations.

The event was attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, underscoring the significance of the occasion and the close diplomatic and cultural relations between the two countries.

“Kalayaan 2025” marked another milestone in the enduring partnership between the Philippines and the UAE, home to a large and vibrant Filipino community contributing across various sectors of the Emirati economy.
